At ONWARD 17, we had the pleasure of collaborating with DonorsChoose.org, the leading funding community for public school teachers, to demonstrate the use of our new Yext for Events platform as it pertains to any style of business.

DonorsChoose.org CMO Katie Bisbee joined Yext Chief Strategy Officer Marc Ferrentino on stage during the opening keynote to discuss the ease and efficiency in using Yext for Events. To showcase this, Ferrentino and Bisbee demonstrated the installation of Giving Tuesday, one of the biggest events of the year for DonorsChoose.org. During the installation of the global event, DonorsChoose.org was able to set a location, date, and name for the event, while pushing it live in a myriad of places across the web. With the end result, Bisbee was confident that, "with Yext for Events, we'll really have a strong turnout for Giving Tuesday."

Yext for Events works by pulling up event analytics to sync with publishers across the web. This development to the Yext Knowledge Engine allows customers to engage, manage, and sync data about their events.

ONWARD17 attendees received a DonorsChoose.org gift card to donate to a classroom project of their choosing.

In addition to showcasing the ease of use with Yext for Events and DonorsChoose.org, Yext donated 600 $25 gift cards to guests at ONWARD to help students across the country embrace the Intelligent Future. The total donations have amounted to $15,0000, spanning public schools across the United States to reach classrooms in need. A few highlights from the projects ONWARD attendees supported include:

  • Play, Design, and Program for the Future: This project aims to combine STEM and art through video game design. The 75 students that this fully-funded project will influence are students in a Computer Science and Robotics class, who will work collaboratively to study the art of storytelling through gaming.

  • Running Makes My Body and Mind Happy!: This project will be using a coach to train beginner students for a 5K. A running plan, pedometers, and water bottles will be given to each student and will remain at school so they can learn about proper hydration for their weight and activity level. This project promotes motivation, physical activity, and mental wellness.

  • The Beauty of Science: Understanding Scientific Principles Through Art!: This project allows students to use art and creativity to understand and visualize models of important molecules involved in biochemical processes. Through the use of 3D pens, the students will model structures such as DNA, RNA, and enzymes, and will eventually manipulate these models to demonstrate how the structure of molecules impacts their function.

DonorsChoose.org makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you. To donate to a cause of your choice, visit https://www.donorschoose.org/.
