Prytania Veterinary Hospital offers a full range of medical services including internal medicine, hematology, cardiology, oncology, and radiology. In addition to health maintenance, we also perform surgery and provide complete dental care.
We also offer basic grooming services, baths, and boarding.
Prytania Veterinary Hospital exists to promote regular preventative care in our office and at home so that our clients' pets can enjoy a lifetime of good health. We aim to offer state-of-the-art animal care with minimal discomfort. We treat all pets with kindness and compassion and strive to provide the most comfortable environment for your pets during their visits with us. | Dr. Brian Ghere | Dr. Brian Ghere attended Washington State University and received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University Veterinary School in 1986. He also studied at the University of Pretoria Veterinary School in South Africa during his senior year. Dr. Ghere has owned and operated a computer database company since 1992. In September of 1992, he founded and opened Prytania Veterinary Hospital with partner Dr. Nancy Nathan. Dr. Ghere is a member of many professional organizations including the AVMA, LVMA, and the Southeast Louisiana Veterinary Association. He has served as president of the State and Local Veterinary Association, and was on an executive committee for the National Association. Dr. Brian Ghere is married to Mary Elliott Ghere, and is the proud parent of three daughters, Taylor, Laney, and Aubrey, four cats, Claudia, Mr. T., Nietzen, and Salsa, and two dogs, Nelson and Bernard. He is an avid outdoorsman and racquetball player. |
| Dr. Nancy Nathan | Dr. Nancy Nathan is a New Orleans native. She graduated from Isidore Newman School in 1978 and received her B.A. from Wellesley College in 1982. She received her degree in veterinary medicine from Tufts University School of Veterinary medicine in 1986. She and Dr. Brian Ghere opened Prytania Veterinary Hospital in September 1992. She has just returned home after practicing veterinary medicine in Canada for the past three years. Dr. Nathan is a member of the A.V.M.A., S.L.V.A. and the C.V.M.A. She has special interest in animal behavior as well as feline medicine. Dr. Nathan has two daughters, Caroline and Emily, two cats, Angel and PurrPurr, and one three-legged long-haired Chihuahua named Joy. She is thrilled to be back in New Orleans where she enjoys walking in Aududon Park and bike-riding with her kids. |
| Dr. Rachelle Biondolillo | Dr. Rachelle Biondolillo graduated from Louisiana State University in 1997. She practiced at Algiers Animal Clinic from 1997 to 2001, and at Audubon Veterinary Hospital from 2001 – 2003 before joining Prytania Veterinary Hospital in 2003. Dr. Biondolillo was an attending doctor at the Animal Emergency Clinic from 1998 – 2008. Her special interests include internal medicine, surgery, ultrasound, and feline medicine. She also enjoys education and devotes as time as she can to problem prevention. In her free time, Dr. B enjoys being outdoors, gardening, traveling, and cat hugging. Her husband is Bryan Barry, and they have 2 cats, Payton and Drew Brees Barrymore, and a little dog named Betty. |
| Dr. Christian Charlton | Dr. Christian Charlton joined Prytania Veterinary Hospital as a veterinarian in the summer of 2006. He is a member of the AVMA, LVMA, and a member of the emergency team at Southeast Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. He was raised uptown and had previously worked at PVH as a technician. Dr. Charlton is very proud of his Bulldawg heritage having earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. After obtaining his DVM from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, he completed a one-year internship in Charlotte, NC gaining experience in emergency medicine/critical care, surgery, and internal medicine. Feeling like there was no place like home, Dr. Charlton returned to New Orleans and lives uptown with his four dogs, Siva, Burton, Annabelle, and The Dude and his cat, Bourne. He enjoys spending time with family and friends. Georgia (and LSU) football, and all the outdoor activities the “Sportsman's Paradise” has to offer. |
| Dr. Eleanore Armani | Dr. Eleanore Armani graduated with a DVM from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She is a member of the AVMA, LVMA, SLUA, and Phi Zeta veterinary honor society. A former English teacher, Dr. Armani moved to New Orleans in 1997 and worked at Prytania Veterinary Hospital as a technician for several years while preparing for vet school. After graduation from LSU, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she gained extensive experience in emergency medicine, surgery, and internal medicine. She has special interests in preventative medicine as a path to better quality of life for her patients and their owners. Other areas which are very important to her include critical care, internal medicine, and the unique issues facing senior pets. She very happy to back at home in uptown New Orleans where she lives with her husband Tony, son Alex, dogs Stella and Luna and cat Boq. She enjoys cooking (and eating) good food, listening to local music, and spending time with friends and family. |
