Street address requirements for Yext PowerListings:

Currently, Yext PowerListings is available only for businesses that have a physical street address (which cannot be a post office box). Some partners in the Yext Network do not accept listings without a street address, and so we are unable to process listings without them. We plan to support this in a future release.

Customers wishing to use Yext PowerListings should pick an address associated with their business and use it as the address for their listing. As long as the address is a physical place where the business has a presence, it may be used for Yext PowerListings. For example, many customers will use the headquarters or home office of their business, even if customers do not visit them there.

Identifying existing location

Unlike other local advertising products which promote you on space specially designated for advertising, Yext PowerListings updates and enhances your "organic" listings. Sites in our network maintain large directories of local business listings, and hence your listing may already exist (incorrectly or incompletely) on these sites.

To identify if your business already has an existing listing on our network sites, we perform an automated search on our network and look for listings that match the information (business name, address, and phone number) you provided us. We provisionally mark close matches with high accuracy, and ask you to confirm our results. Upon confirmation, we will update your listings with the accurate information you provided us, and enrich it with your enhanced content such as photos and Featured Messages.

If we cannot find a match, we will add a new listing with all your basic and enhanced information to our partner's business directories, which will create new organic listings for your business.

PowerListings content policy (regarding Featured Messages):

In order to preserve the user experience on the sites that participate in the Yext PowerListings program, we have developed content guidelines for your Featured Message content (i.e. the 50 character message that you are able to update as frequently as you like). If the content of a Featured Message does not meet these guidelines, we will not pass the Featured Message on to the partner sites, and your Featured Message will remain as it was previously. Timeline for displaying a Featured Message on your listings for the first time:

When you first sign up for Yext PowerListings or first add an additional location to your subscription, our partners take different time periods to introduce a Featured Message to your listings. The time also varies based on whether your listing was already on the partner site or it needs to be added.
(Note: once your listings are already live with Featured Messages, the time to update any changes to your Featured Messages is typically much shorter, and could be as soon as instantly for some sites.)

Tracking and reporting details:

Your Yext account allows you to view the daily number of searches, profile views and PowerListings live for your Yext PowerListings. This will give you a better idea on the amount of traffic that your business is receiving on each of the partner sites, and can be useful to track the impact of your marketing efforts.

  • Searches — the number of times your listing appeared in the local search results of consumer searches on a partner site.
  • Profile views — the number of times a customer saw your full listing profile on a partner site, either by clicking on your listing from a search on the partner site or from another search engine.
  • PowerListings Live — the total number of live PowerListings at the end of a selected period.
