The Books

The first book in the series, Little House in the Big Woods book was released in 1932. Starring Laura as the books main protagonist it served as an introduction to the Ingalls family. Parents Charles and Caroline were firm but loving. Older sister Mary faced many challenges including blindness at a young age. Laura was adventuress and spunky girl and Carrie was the youngest daughter in the family, though another daughter would eventually be born. Common themes featured in the books include love, family and hard work and feature the family often having to start over in a new area, including Kansas , Wisconsin and Minnesota .
