Doctors
Lauryn Usry, Receptionist
Lauryn has worked in the client service industry for several years. She was a Communications major while attending the College of Charleston and now is a great asset to our team as one of our Front Desk Receptionists. She is also a new first time mom of her beautiful baby girl named Ella who is 3 months old.
David E. Steele, DVM
David Steele attended undergraduate as well as veterinary college at Auburn University, graduating in 1992. He has practiced small animal medicine in Mount Pleasant for 14 years. He has advanced training in ultrasonography, reproductive sciences and reconstructive surgery. He is a member of the Veterinary Surgical Laser Society, certified as a Penn Hip Veterinarian for the evaluation of hip dysplasia and was awarded Auburn University's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2002
Leslie Steele, DVM
Leslie also attended undergraduate as well as veterinary college at Auburn University, graduating in 1994. Leslie spent seven years practicing feline specialty medicine and surgery at the Charleston Cat Clinic on East Bay Street. She is now practicing part-time with particular interest in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and behavioral management. She spends any spare time and resources working to lower the population of unwanted pets in the Charleston area.
Roni Silvers, Hospital Manager
Roni has been in the veterinary business since 1991 where she started as a veterinary technician. She was a technician for 6 years and moved to a receptionist position for the next 5 years. Roni helped the Steeles open Advanced Animal Care in 2001 where 5 years ago became hospital manager. Just like all of our staff, she has always had a strong compassion and passion for all animals.
Erin Gillum, Technician Manager
Erin has been with us for 3 years. She is the proud mom of a handsome 3 year old Aiden. She graduated from the College of Charleston and worked several years on the human side of medicine in the area of Gastroenterology. Her love of animals brought her to us to try this new field. She was a natural her first day on the job and is now our Technician Manager and food specialist. She oversees and manages all of our technicians to be sure the upmost care is always given.
Katie Cale, Head Receptionist
Katie graduated from the College of Charleston and has been with us for almost 4 years now. She became Head Receptionist about one year ago. She is responsible for being sure all the front desk personell always go above and beyond for every client and pet that we see. Before she started working here she had no pets of her own - now she has 3 cats all adopted and need of a good home. Katie is an extremely hard working individual that leaves no job undone. If you need an answer to any question you may have about your pet, Katie will give it to you or find the answer for you.
Laura Barksdale, Kennel Manager
Laura has been with us for over a year. She spent a number of years working in the food and beverage business managing multiple staff members. One day she decided it was time to find something else. She has always had a great love of animals and came to us and started as a kennel technician. Along with her love of animals she had great organizational skills that helped get our kennel much more streamline and efficient. She is now our Kennel Manager and oversees the entire treatment and kennel area. We are so glad to have her as a vital part of our staff.
Tara Young, Technician
Tara came to us at the beginning of December 2008. She previously worked at the Franke Home caring for the elderly. Her love of animals and innate caring desires made her a perfect fit for us. Tara has done such a great job since she has been here and now is one of our full-time veterinary technicians.
Meredith Riddick, Receptionist
Meredith is a native of Mt. Pleasant and began working as a receptionist here in December 2008. She graduated from Clemson University with a BA in communications in May 2008. She has always had a passion for animals and their well-being so working here has helped her and us. Her communication skills present perfectly to our clients and her love for all the pets is a joy for her every day.
