Jason Berkowitz, DVM, MBA
Jason L. Berkowitz attended college at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts followed by Tufts Veterinary School in North Grafton, Massachusetts as part of a 7 year B.S./D.V.M. combined program, which he completed in 2002. He then performed an internship in medicine and surgery at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. Following his internship, Dr. Berkowitz joined our VCA team working at County Animal Clinic in Yonkers, NY. He became the Medical Director there in July 2006. He has recently joined us as Medical Director at the Davis Animal Hospital. Dr. Berkowitz also completed the degree of Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University in January of 2009.
Dr. Berkowitz lives in Yonkers with his wife Kristine, who is a zoo and wildlife veterinarian. They recently had their first child, Katiya, and their family also includes 3 cats named Chloe, Miles, and Mr. Masnugamapants, as well as 1 dog, an Australian shepherd mix named Maya. When he is not working, Dr. Berkowitz likes playing ice hockey, golf, and skiing. He also has a private pilot's license, although not current.
Nancy Maloney, DVM
Dr. Nancy Maloney received her Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of the Philippines and then did an internship at the University of California at Davis. She has been practicing at the Davis Animal Hospital since 1994 and has a special interest in advanced dentistry.
Dr. Maloney has 2 daughters at college in Baltimore and 2 cats named Milo and Smokey. In her spare time she enjoys sailing, running and she is an advid reader.
Janet Triplett, VMD
Dr. Janet Triplett is originally from Greenwich, Connecticut but has spent a significant amount of time in the mid-west. Her first career was as a middle manager in data processing. She has a masters in math from the University of Wisconsin and then received her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999. Most of her veterinary career has been spent at the Davis Animal Hospital.
Dr. Triplett has two children and will soon be a grandmother. In her spare time she enjoys biking, baking and singing in the Greenwich Choral Society.
Zimra Gordon, DVM, MRH
Zimra Gordon graduated with a BA in biology from Wellesley College in 1992. She received her DVM from Tufts University in 1996. After practicing small animal medicine for several years, she became increasingly interested in the natural history and epidemiology of infectious and chronic disease, and went on to receive advanced training at the Yale School of Epidemiology and Public Health. She was awarded a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Yale in 2002. She continues to work with the faculty at Yale studying the ‘One Health’ concept, which explores the intersections between animal and human health. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine in 2007, and is one of the very few vets in Connecticut to be Board Certified in this specialty.
Dr. Gordon enjoys working with pets and their families to maintain pet health through all life stages. When not practicing veterinary medicine, she and her family, both two and four legged, can be found wandering through the forests and wetlands of New England.
Shalmalee Kotwal, DVM
Dr. Kotwal received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. She then completed a Post-Baccalaureate program at Duquesne University in 2004. She returned to the University of Pennsylvania for veterinary school and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2008. She completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT the following year. Dr. Kotwal's interests are emergency and internal medicine. Her hobbies include playing guitar, drawing/sculpting, skiing, and traveling. She lives in Norwalk, CT with her cat, Piggy and newly adopted dog.
Ingrid Schmidt, DVM
Dr. Schmidt grew up locally then attended Cornell University receiving her degree in Animal Science. She attended Kansas State University where she received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and then completed an internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C. She has also worked in London England and New York. She returned to Connecticut in 2005 and started here at Davis Animal Hospital. Dr. Schmidt works part time so that she can balance her professional life with taking care of her young daughter Diana.
Diane Kittrell, DVM, ACVIM
Dr. Kittrell was born and raised in Massachusets. She spend most of her time prior to Veterinary School competitively showing Morgan and Saddlebred horses. She graduated Ohio State College of Veterinary medicine in 2000. She completed and intership and residency at the Animal Medical Center. Dr. Kittrell also completed certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM).
Dr. Kittrell has a special interest in gastrointestinal, renal and endocrine disorders. She particularly enjoys endoscopic procedures. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, hiking, traveling and relaxing yoga.
