Case Study: How Playdigo Used Scout to Win Visibility in AI Search

As AI agents started answering the question of which performance DSP is best, Playdigo needed a way to see where it stood — and to close the gap on much larger, publicly traded competitors. Yext Scout made that possible.

About Playdigo

Playdigo is an adaptive performance layer that connects marketers to publishers across mobile, CTV, and other devices. The platform supports two lines of business: performance campaigns built for mobile user acquisition, and programmatic brand-awareness campaigns that reach audiences across devices in real time.

  • Grew steadily through strong word-of-mouth referrals and repeat business

  • Competes in a category that includes a few large, publicly traded platforms, including The Trade Desk

  • Already an established player in performance DSPs, with room to grow its visibility in Google and AI-generated search**

The Challenge

Playdigo competes in a category that includes a few large, publicly traded platforms, and has grown primarily through cold outreach and repeat business rather than a heavy paid-marketing budget. Without a large paid program to lean on, Playdigo's leadership decided to see whether organic growth through AI search could help drive more inbound leads.

Getting there required a bit of groundwork. Playdigo's site hadn't yet been set up with the markup that AI crawlers use to read and cite a page's content — a detail that's easy to overlook until someone points it out. An early blog post produced no measurable movement, which is what first prompted the team to dig into why.

I was very skeptical. The chances that this was gonna work were probably not very high, but I was gonna give it my best.

The Solution

Working with Yext Scout, Playdigo took a phased, test-and-learn approach rather than a single campaign push.

  • Fixed technical foundations first — so AI crawlers could read and cite the site more effectively

  • Used Scout's citation tracking, reviewed every meeting, to see which platforms AI agents were citing for Playdigo's category

  • Shifted content toward third-party platforms with strong domain authority — rather than relying only on Playdigo's own blog

  • Started testing new platforms after citation data suggested the domain carries weight with AI agents

  • Published comparison-style content, since AI agents tend to favor direct comparisons when answering "X vs. Y" and "which is better" queries

The team treated the work as a continuous loop: publish, check citations, double down on what moved the numbers, and keep testing new channels rather than settling once something worked — since the criteria AI agents use keep changing.

The Results

The technical fixes alone produced a visible jump in AI citations before any new content went out. From there, results compounded. Over roughly 8 to 9 months, Playdigo's AI brand visibility for its top search terms climbed from 0% to 30%, and Google's AI Overview began citing Playdigo alongside The Trade Desk, a publicly traded competitor, in answers about top performance DSPs.

Inbound leads roughly doubled over the same period. Playdigo's team also noticed a secondary effect that's harder to measure: more prospects at industry conferences recognized the Playdigo name, even when a given search didn't lead directly to a lead.

I started Googling the keywords we were promoting, and all of a sudden I saw Playdigo right alongside the likes of The Trade Desk, a public company, recommended ahead of it. It felt like a lightbulb moment — this actually works, and if I saw that result, other people searching the same thing will see it too.

The Difference

Beyond the numbers, the engagement changed how Playdigo's team thinks about content. What started as occasional blog posts became a citation-informed strategy, revisited every meeting, that treats each platform as a hypothesis to test rather than a box to check.

It also changed the working relationship. Playdigo's CEO pointed to moments when the Scout team stepped in directly — drafting and posting content during especially busy stretches — as a level of support he hadn't experienced from other vendors.

It was zero percent on AI brand recognition, then one and a half, then seven — and suddenly thirty. We're doing better than many larger companies on our search terms

What's Next

Playdigo plans to keep testing new channels, starting with a deeper push into YouTube, and expects competition for AI search visibility to intensify as larger, better-funded players start paying attention to the same signals. For now, that gap is Playdigo's advantage.

Just do it. It's one of those things you have to try for yourself — you'll become a believer once you see it actually happen. There's no over-promising here, but if you put in the work, you'll see results fast.
